Here’s our July update. Since our schedule sometimes changes, the best way for students to keep up to date with the latest information is through the GroupMe app or group text. If you have any questions about GroupMe, our current schedule, or anything else please feel free to give me a call.
Current Zoom Schedule
Word Wednesday (Youth Group)- Wednesday nights at 6:30 we discuss scripture, play some games, worship and pray. We open the Zoom room to hang out at 6:00.
Philosophy Phriday- During this time, RSM students wrestle with tough issues and relevant scripture. We recently finished 3 weeks on abortion and will likely be discussing C.S. Lewis or learning about Christianity among other religions. We meet every Friday at 3:30 on Zoom.
Youth Sunday – 7/26
We’re currently planning a Youth Sunday on July 26th. Students will be leading us in music, liturgy, prayers, and preaching. If your child would like to be involved please have them reach out to me or Jeanne Higgins.
Step-Up Nerf Battles – 7/25 & 7/26
Due to the pandemic, we’ve been forced to change our traditional “step-up” event plans and are, instead, planning on small-sized nerf battles at rising sixth graders’ homes. We intend to adopt social distancing policies to the best of our ability and we’ll keep the groups small . We’ll likely have three different battles before we’re done, but we currently have two scheduled, one on July 25th and another on the 26th. They’re both 6:00pm-7:30pm. I’ll be reaching out as more info becomes available.
Students have been wondering when we’ll be returning to meeting in-person and there are certainly some differing opinions about what to do. Given the recent uptick in confirmed cases, though, we will continue waiting to plan any large group, in-person events. In the meantime some small groups are arranging occasional in-person gatherings. Feel free to reach out to your child’s small group leader for details.
RSM Family Meeting
On Sunday, August 16th, we’ll be holding an RSM Family Meeting to discuss the needs of our families during what will likely be an unusual school year, and considering what RSM could/should look like in the fall. We’ll meet after church through Zoom.
Thank you for your time and, as always, please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or if there are ways RSM can bless your family.
