Discipleship Hour Sunday Mornings 9:45-10:45
Adult Education Starting September 1
Adult Education class “What are You Doing Here?” God asked the prophet Elijah this question in a moment of great distress. It’s also the question He asks each of us — and the question we ought to be asking Him as well. We will be taking a close look at Elijah’s life as a way of understanding the interplay of those questions in our own lives.
Wednesday Evening Classes
Beginning Wednesday, August 14 – Our Wednesday night class will be reading Nancy Pearcey’s pivotal book, Love Thy Body (available from Amazon, or from the book table for $15 starting next week) – In Love Thy Body, best-selling author Nancy Pearcey (“America’s preeminent evangelical Protestant female intellectual”) goes beyond politically correct talking points to offer a riveting exposé of the dehumanizing secularist ethos that shapes critical moral and socio-political issues of our day. Fearlessly and with compassion, she makes the case that secularism denigrates the body and destroys the basis for human rights. Pearcey sets forth a holistic and humane alternative available to all–one that offers reality–oriented solutions that embrace the dignity of the human body and provide a sustainable basis for inalienable human rights.
Ladies Wednesday Night Bible Study Starting September 4 – We will be reading the book Full: Food, Jesus, and the Battle for Satisfaction. We’d like to invite you to join in our Wednesday night study as together we discover the joy of living free from food fixation, so that we can experience deeper satisfaction in Jesus, gain a renewed sense of purpose, and yes, enjoy good food. This is not a diet book, and it’s not a healthy eating plan. You won’t find recipes or swap-out recommendations. Because, at the core, our problem is not really what we eat. It’s why we seek fullness in something that will never satisfy. We don’t need another diet; we need the sanctification that comes by the power of the Spirit. That’s the only solution that leads to lasting change and creates in us the transformation that pleases God.
