Ash Wednesday in 16 Days… (Rector’s Letter for 2/01/20)

Dear Redeemer Family:
I have been encouraged in recent weeks, as I have caught up with many of you. It has been good to talk with some of you over the phone, to see some of you on Sundays, and to meet in person with others in driveways, parks, and coffee shops. As we continue to walk through this Covid-19 season together, I challenge you to continue to reach out to one another, and to pray for one another. As I have been encouraged by my conversations, I want you also to experience the joy of connectivity with your faith family as you share with, listen to, and pray for one another. Be courageous and reach out, as the Lord leads you. If you need a phone number or email address, simply call the church office.
The season of Lent is fast approaching, with Ash Wednesday occurring on February 17. Last year, on February 26th, we “remembered that we are dust, and to dust we shall return” all together, in person, prior to the coronavirus crisis impacting our lives. This year will be different than previous Ash Wednesdays. Redeemer will have three services at 7AM, Noon, and 7PM, and you will be able to participate either online or in-person. We will not impose ashes during the services, but will each mark the sign of the cross on our foreheads in unison as we declare: “remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” After each service, those who would like to have ashes imposed can do so. We will also have ashes and Communion elements available for pick-up prior to the service for those who would like to participate from home.
May the Peace of the Lord be with you this week, as you seek to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in your daily lives. I pray you will have ears to hear his voice, and courage to follow Him as he leads you, for the glory of His name.
Fr. Bill
