Local Outreach

Prison Ministry Church of the Redeemer is very active in Kairos Prison Ministry International in northeast Florida by leading and serving during weekend retreats held at local correction facilities.  During these retreats our members have the opportunity to show participants the personal love of Jesus Christ.  We also support Prisoners of Christ, a ministry which provides housing, help with employment, and clothing for those recently released from prison.

City Rescue Mission A Christian recovery ministry rebuilding the lives of the homeless and needy through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ since 1946.  City Rescue provides emergency shelter to the homeless and an opportunity to discover that through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, they can repair and rebuild whole and productive lives. www.crmjax.org

St. Mary’s The Episcopal Outreach Ministries of the Diocese of Florida at St. Mary’s seeks to be the loving arms of Jesus Christ to the inner city needy of Jacksonville.  All who may be uncomfortable attending conventional churches, especially the mentally ill, the struggling substance abuser, the urban poor, and high-risk youth, are welcome.  The main goal of St. Mary’s is to provide the neediest among us encouragement for better life choices and a safe place for personal growth in spirit, soul, and body.  Church of the Redeemer supports St. Mary's financially and collects food and clothing on an ongoing basis at our Ministry Center.

First Coast Women’s Services is committed to offering truthful information, emotional support and practical assistance to individuals who are facing unplanned pregnancies.  They present sexual abstinence as a positive lifestyle for singles.  By sharing the love of Christ, they provide opportunity for healing and restoration to those who have been hurt by abortion.  Church of the Redeemer supports First Coast Women's Center financially and serves the center through board representation and volunteer service as counselors, receptionists, and general ministry service. www.fcws.org

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an evangelical campus mission serving students and faculty on college and university campuses nationwide with a vision to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed and world changers developed. InterVarsity Tallahassee reaches the three collegiate institutions in the city: Florida State University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and Tallahassee Community College. Church of the Redeemer supports this ministry and Peter Lebhar works closely with this growing national outreach.

Living Without Lust (formerly Jacob’s Well) exists to help men who struggle with sexual addiction to find long-term sobriety, freedom, and connection to others and to the living God. We also seek to empower churches, Christian leaders and organizations to respond creatively, gracefully and helpfully to the increasing challenge of sexual addiction and to provide resources, community, and hope for men to live a life of progressive freedom from lust and addictive behaviors. The Hubbard House (HH)  organization, operational since 2006, is a safe haven for families who have fallen victim to domestic violence. Beyond providing safety, their priorities are to empower victims and to bring social change through education and advocacy.

Hubbard House's client base totals 5,000 victims a year including many young children. The average stay at HH is 3 months. It is a place they can "hide and stay safe" until they are ready to begin a new life away from the abusive person who has harmed them. Victims of domestic violence are traumatized and often feel helpless and alone. They generally believe their community does not care about them.

Desiring to know more about Hubbard House and how Redeemer might become involved in ministry there, several members were given a tour in January 2016. As a result of that visit, a decision was made by Missions and Outreach to visibly show Hubbard House clients how much "GOD LOVES THEM" and that they are Not Alone, by providing fresh, nutritionally dense food every month including fruit, vegetables, meats and dairy. In this small way, Church of the Redeemer is assisting the Hubbard House team to Transform Lives. We believe it is a way to express compassion for those facing stormy times. John 14:19 "Because Jesus lives, I can face tomorrow with hope and faith."

Please contact Redeemer's Advocate for Hubbard House, Karen Fergusson (904-705-3978) to learn more about becoming involved in Redeemer's Hubbard House ministry.

World Relief Jacksonville

World Relief's mission is to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable, and that's just how the Jacksonville office's story began. It was a simple phone call to a Pastor's wife that lead to more than 20 years of love, service, and memories. Today, that story continues. Click here to learn more.

World Relief Jacksonville serves two vulnerable people groups in our city: Refugees and Victims of Human Trafficking, while also advocating for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.  They partner with over 90 local churches, including Redeemer,  on the First Coast and have over 200 active volunteers.

Redeemer's most significant partnerships in the past two years have included hosting a Harvest Festival in November inviting hundreds of local refugee families to come for food and games as well as distribution of winter clothing donated by our congregration. We also have been involved in greeting newly arriving refugees at the airport and adopting a family from Afghanistan.
