Living Without Lust (formerly Jacob’s Well) exists to help men who struggle with sexual addiction to find long-term sobriety, freedom, and connection to others and to the living God. We also seek to empower churches, Christian leaders and organizations to respond creatively, gracefully and helpfully to the increasing challenge of sexual addiction and to provide resources, community, and hope for men to live a life of progressive freedom from lust and addictive behaviors. The Hubbard House (HH) organization, operational since 2006, is a safe haven for families who have fallen victim to domestic violence. Beyond providing safety, their priorities are to empower victims and to bring social change through education and advocacy.
Hubbard House's client base totals 5,000 victims a year including many young children. The average stay at HH is 3 months. It is a place they can "hide and stay safe" until they are ready to begin a new life away from the abusive person who has harmed them. Victims of domestic violence are traumatized and often feel helpless and alone. They generally believe their community does not care about them.
Desiring to know more about Hubbard House and how Redeemer might become involved in ministry there, several members were given a tour in January 2016. As a result of that visit, a decision was made by Missions and Outreach to visibly show Hubbard House clients how much "GOD LOVES THEM" and that they are Not Alone, by providing fresh, nutritionally dense food every month including fruit, vegetables, meats and dairy. In this small way, Church of the Redeemer is assisting the Hubbard House team to Transform Lives. We believe it is a way to express compassion for those facing stormy times. John 14:19 "Because Jesus lives, I can face tomorrow with hope and faith."
Please contact Redeemer's Advocate for Hubbard House, Karen Fergusson (904-705-3978) to learn more about becoming involved in Redeemer's Hubbard House ministry.
World Relief Jacksonville
World Relief's mission is to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable, and that's just how the Jacksonville office's story began. It was a simple phone call to a Pastor's wife that lead to more than 20 years of love, service, and memories. Today, that story continues. Click here to learn more.
World Relief Jacksonville serves two vulnerable people groups in our city: Refugees and Victims of Human Trafficking, while also advocating for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. They partner with over 90 local churches, including Redeemer, on the First Coast and have over 200 active volunteers.
Redeemer's most significant partnerships in the past two years have included hosting a Harvest Festival in November inviting hundreds of local refugee families to come for food and games as well as distribution of winter clothing donated by our congregration. We also have been involved in greeting newly arriving refugees at the airport and adopting a family from Afghanistan.
Riverside Mission - The Table Fellowship
Started by Rick and Carol Wallis as an outreach to the Riverside/Avondale neighborhood of Jacksonville.
They describe themselves as "... a Christian community of hope, healing, and hospitality. We seek to follow Jesus on his mission, seeking to share the love of God with the seeker, the broken, and the vulnerable. We are a “missional community,” sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in personal and local expressions, as a branch of the Anglican Church of North America.
