Redeemer's Missions & Outreach Advocates

Redeemer tithes ten percent of income for missions and outreach.  Through the Missions and Outreach Committee, we partner with missions and outreach ministries where we have a relational connection which is developed, nurtured, and supported by a passionate advocate for the ministry.  If you are interested in service opportunities or have any questions regarding a specific mission or outreach, email us at ourredeemerlives@bellsouth.net, and we will forward your interest to the appropriate advocate.

Local Outreach

Ennoble’s mission is to ennoble teens, preteens and parents through research, education, and the creative expression of Christian principles.  We live in dangerous and desperate times.  Our children are bombarded with pressures far beyond their ability to cope.  Telling them the truth about who they are, the significance of their choices, and that God has a plan and purpose for their lives is paramount to their future—and ours.  Without a doubt, parents are the greatest positive influence in the lives of their children—if they choose to be.  What is needed to save this generation is nothing less than a parent movement whereby millions of parents rise up, take charge, and refuse to lose their kids.  Telling the truth to young people in a way they can hear it is not easy.  It must be creative, realistic, relational, and entertaining.   Using media and technology, combined with experience of other teems and young adults, Ennoble delivers large doses of truth to a generation that is drowning in lies.

Several members of Church of the Redeemer serve on the Board of Directors of Ennoble, many members serve in its local programs, and Redeemer supports Ennoble financially. Its founder is our own Rev. Dr. Drew Edwards. www.ennoblefoundation.org

Prison Ministry  Church of the Redeemer is very active in Kairos Prison Ministry International in northeast Florida by leading and serving during weekend retreats held at local correction facilities.  During these retreats our members have the opportunity to show participants the personal love of Jesus Christ.  We also support Prisoners of Christ, a ministry which provides housing, help with employment, and clothing for those recently released from prison.

City Rescue Mission  A Christian recovery ministry rebuilding the lives of the homeless and needy through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ since 1946.  City Rescue provides emergency shelter to the homeless and an opportunity to discover that through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, they can repair and rebuild whole and productive lives.  www.crmjax.org

St. Mary’s  The Episcopal Outreach Ministries of the Diocese of Florida at St. Mary’s seeks to be the loving arms of Jesus Christ to the inner city needy of Jacksonville.  All who may be uncomfortable attending conventional churches, especially the mentally ill, the struggling substance abuser, the urban poor, and high-risk youth, are welcome.  The main goal of St. Mary’s is to provide the neediest among us encouragement for better life choices and a safe place for personal growth in spirit, soul, and body.  Church of the Redeemer supports St. Mary's financially and collects food and clothing on an ongoing basis at our Ministry Center.

  • January Need For St. Mary's:  This is laundry month.  Your family's gift of laundry detergent, clothespins and laundry baskets are appreciated.  You may take your donations to the Ministry Center Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Thank you for sharing. Church of the Redeemer supports First Coast Women's Center financially and serves the center through board representation and volunteer service as counselors, receptionists, and general ministry service.  www.fcws.org

Shoresh USA is currently staffed by volunteers and is primarily a teaching ministry. Shoresh aims to shed light on the Jewish world of Jesus and its implications for Christian discipleship.  Shoresh seeks to deepen Christian discipleship and to foster a loving witness to the Jewish people.

Local classes in churches of many denominations, city-wide celebrations of the biblical Feasts, and events done in partnership with the Jewish community have all in the past had a significant role in shaping Redeemer’s understanding of the scriptures. www.shoresh.org

Susan Morris is preparing to go to Uganda to serve as Coordinator for Partnership Services within the Church of Uganda’s Office of International Relations. In this capacity, she will work to create and facilitate effective ministry partnerships between churches in Uganda and the United States. Such partnerships build up and encourage everyone involved, and provide us with the opportunity to learn from our brothers and sisters in Uganda who are seeing the Gospel move in power in that area of the world.   In additional partnership services, Susan will also be assisting within Global Mobilization Ministries (GMM), a ministry headed up by the Rev. Canon Dr. Alison Barfoot. The mission of GMM is focused on equipping and supporting local evangelists as they bring the Gospel to unreached people in East Africa. This ministry not only takes the Gospel to the unreached, but also plants churches and continues the relationship with those who meet the risen Lord, discipling them and building them up in their new lives in Christ Jesus.

Right now Susan needs partners who will pray for her as she prepare for and then enters into her work with the Church of Uganda. She also needs partners who are willing to contribute financially to this work. To be fully funded for this work in Uganda Susan needs to raise $36,200 per year. She must also have $22,500 cash in her SAMS missions account before she will be certified to leave.

Please prayerfully consider whether the Lord is leading you to join Susan’s team as a prayer partner, a financial support partner, or both. For additional information contact her at 904-674-2281 or by email at susan.morris.fl@gmail.com. You can also follow along on her blog at www.anglicanteams.blogspot.com as she prepares to go.
